As if Bergen wasn’t already cosy enough, the annual Christmas Market takes it to new heights when it spreads its joy and cinnamon scents around the city centre.
For most of December, around 80 market stalls appear in downtown Festplassen and boost the Christmas shopping experience. Let your senses lead you from stall to stall, stacked with everything from local cheeses to spices and woollen products to keep you warm in the Norwegian winter.
At Juletorget, The Christmas Square, you will find 12 new local exhibitors each day, while the bright lights from the ferris wheel will lead you to the market’s amusement area. Join the locals in search of their perfect Christmas tree and gifts, then take a break to enjoy a cup of steaming gløgg (mulled wine) – or maybe just a hot chocolate.
No matter your age, Bergen’s Christmas Market with its daily entertainment is a sure bet to get you in the right holiday mood. And the atmosphere itself comes completely free of charge.
