The Aurora Winter Festival is a three-day classical music festival in the town of Trollhättan, Sweden.
Classical isn’t the genre usually associated with a music festival, but Aurora Music, an international producer of festivals, aims to change this as part of its overall mission to make live classical music more accessible.
This year’s festival takes place at Folkets Hus in Tröllhattan, where a number of leading Swedish and international musicians, artists and soloists will perform.
The theme for the 2018 festival is ‘Death in Venice’, inspired by the Thomas Mann novella of the same name. You can expect to hear music by titans Mozart and Bach, as well as Gustav Mahler, who is said to have inspired Mann while he wrote Death in Venice.
Concerts and talks will take place across three days. Tickets are available online – some are free and others go for around 200 SEK each. You can also get a special festival pass for 600 SEK.
