If you’re still saving old comics in a box in the attic, this is your chance to meet like-minded cartoon enthusiasts and the creators of the colourful pages. Founded in 2011 by cartoonist Lars Jakobsen, Art Bubble is Denmark’s popular annual celebration of comics.
In 2019, the festival will take place in Copenhagen’s iconic Round Tower – one of the capital’s most popular tourist sights. Here, fans of the genre can get their hands on new editions, attend panel talks and meet their comic-drawing heroes to get their copies signed.
Among this year’s guests are Arild Midthun and Patrick Block, who have both worked on Donald Duck comics, and William Simpson, a storyboard artist on the Game of Thrones productions.
The festival also includes the presentation of the Hanne Hansen Prize, which is awarded to people who have made a particular contribution to the world of Danish comics.
