November is widely considered by Swedes to be the most depressing month of the year. It’s cold and dark, and Christmas remains a long way off.
While this situation is highly conducive to simply curling up on the sofa with some quality Scandi crime fiction, the Swedes prefer to get outdoors. And if you’re visiting Uppsala this November, there’s really no reason not to do the same, with the Allt ljus på Uppsala (All Lights on Uppsala) festival taking place every evening.
For the sixthh time, Uppsala City Council has joined forces with local businesses to hold the biannual event and buildings throughout central Uppsala will be decorated with light installations, bringing some much-needed warmth and brightness to the winter nights. A 4km walking trail through the city centre will take you past all the main sights.
