Aarhus Festival is one of the largest cultural events in Scandinavia, and has been a staple of the city’s social life for more than 50 years.
The festival’s theme for 2018 is ‘bridging’, with the goal of bringing together residents and visitors through the various presentations of culture, art and entertainment taking place throughout the city. The ten-day festival will feature more than 1,000 events in over 100 different venues spread across every corner of the city.
Among the many attractions and events on offer, visitors will be able to choose between free concerts at the City Stage in Mølleparken, special exhibitions at art galleries across the city, and boat rides along the city’s hidden waterways. At the Ridehuset concert venue in the middle of the city, a selection of yummy free food samples are usually offered up by local restaurants.
The festival is centered around Byparken, the City Park, which will offer a circus and games for the little ones, as well as an information tent to get you oriented. From here it’s easy to explore any corner of the city. This is a unique chance to access Aarhus’ many (and mostly free) cultural offerings, so if you’re in the area be sure to check it out! This event takes place at the same time as the excellent Aarhus Food Festival.
