With features, documentaries and short films presented over a four-day period, the festival will also give guests the chance to discuss the films in Q&A sessions with their makers and directors.

The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Rebuild’ – it’s reflected in the content of the films themselves as well as the social and political challenges faced by Kurds in four different states, including Syria and Iraq.

Kurdish hospitality will be recreated throughout the festival in Cinemateket’s Asta Lounge, with Kurdish snacks, music and carpets as well as free tea and coffee (in accordance with Kurdish tradition) served before each film. Kurdish-style entertainment will also take place at various intervals throughout the festival.

All films are subtitled in English.
