Veggie heaven

9

Veggies rejoice! This bright, eco-minded café specialises in meat-free meals and puts on excellent buffets packed with tasty organic ingredients.

Pay 135 SEK for Kao’s all-you-can-eat brunch buffet (Saturdays only) and you’ll get free rein over a little counter full of olives, tofu, veggie sausages, lentils, chickpeas and salads. The price also includes as much tea, coffee and tap water as you can slurp your way through.

On weekdays a cheaper lunch buffet is served between 11.30am and 4pm – soup is thrown in with the price. Other options are written out on blackboards near the till, including mains like mushroom risottos and veggie burgers.

Kao's is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Malmö

The café itself is a cheery place to be, with chairs painted red, blue and yellow, and a cool crowd of local eco warriors and students. Even if you’re not hungry, you can stop by for an organic beer and a board game (there are a few to choose from), while bands like the Beach Boys provide the soundtrack.

At the back and across a courtyard there are some extra tables – perfect for when the weather warms up.
